Camp Hell - 2010

Tommy is played by Will Denton and he is a teenager coming of age and just beginning to recognize that ~ hey girls are pretty. His grandfather just passed away and he is grief stricken and he begins to be oppressed by a demon who follows him to Camp Hope which is a camp run by a cultist sect of Catholicism to which their parents belong called The Community. They really take the Catholic Christian teachings and run wild with them turning it very much into a cult like segragated colony.

The demon haunts the boys while he is trying to fit in and the attacks get worse and worse, it turns out there was another boy the former year who this exact same thing happened to that ended up trying to kill himself and his sister and is now in a mental ward. Will this happen to Tommy? It was a good flick the only thing I DIDNT like was the ending where he is offered communion wafer and he refuses saying he doesn't believe.

How the hell can you NOT believe after coming face to face with demonic forces? you would think the effect would be the exact opposite, it would drive him toward belief in the lighter half as well. Where there is one there is the other as well. wierd.

Basement 2010

A group of college students are on a trip together when they stop to use the woods on a piddle break. Two of them skip down a hole in the ground they find for some "alone" time and the others go down into it looking for them. The entry way is then shut by someone and locked leaving them to wander around trying to find a way out. While trying to escape they find a hospital like room with blood everywhere and one of them is not as innocent as they are claiming as they begin to die off one by one.

Danny Dyer is Gary, Jimmy Mistry is Derek, Kierston wareing is Sarah, Emily Beecham is Pru and Lois Winston is Saffron. The ending was kind of dumb but the meat of the movie was exciting and kept you waiting to see what happens next.

Base Line 2010

I wasn't really able to get into the movie. After about 20 minutes I gave up and moves to the next movie. Basically Danny (freddy connor) is a bouncer for a UK night club and he saves the life of Terry (Jamie Foreman) his boss and owner. He then gets welcomed into the boss's inner circle which is filled with crime.

Ballistica - 2010

This is a cheesy 3rd rate film about a man trained in the rare artform of ballistica. This form combines martial arts and the use of handguns for some pretty good moves. On an operation he rescues an american woman who inadvertently helped make a bomb for terrorists. They then spend the movie trying to find the bomb and disarm it. passable if you're bored. Nice ending twist. I give it a C +

It stars Martin Kove as Riley, Paul Logon as Damian, and Alexa is played by CB Spencer

Nightmare on Elm Street - April 2010

This is a pretty good remake of the original 1984 slasher movie. It is not quite as good as the original I think because Jackie Earle Haley does not have the same funny humour as Robert England. Sorry Jackie but Robert just plays the better Freddy. There are some changes to the movie and some additions while some scenes are pretty much repeated. Some of them are better, some of them were pretty much the same. As it turns out I pretty much like the remake and hope they continue with others in the series.

one of the major differences is Freddy didn't kill the children he was a gardener at the daycare center and lived in the basement. He brought the children to a secret room and molested them. The enraged parents then of course burned him alive. In this movie he is going after the children he molested whose parents killed him.

Rooney Mara plays Nancy, Kyle Gallner is Quintin, Katie Cassidy is Kris, Thomas Dekker is Jessie.

A Dangerous Man - Feb 2010

This is a Steven Segal action movie. He plays Shane Daniels who chased off would be muggers who attacked his wife as she waited for him in the car. One of them ended up dead and Shane was accused of the murder, found guilty and sentenced. While in prison his wife left him and his family and reputation was destroyed. His special ops military career was also over. Project Innocent was able to find DNA evidence as well as place the gun used on another person. the DNA evidence matched the other person and Shane had his charged dropped and was released.

He bought himself a bottle of booze and set on top of a bridge feeling sorry for himself and drinking his sorrows away when he witnessed oriental crime bosses kill a cop who pulled them over then start after the sons of a Russian mafia boss who witnessed the killing. Shane sweeps in kicks oriental ass and saves the Russian teenagers. They found an oriental girl in the trunk who revealed a sinister plot going on between corrupt cops gone bad working with the chinese criminals who wanted to hold her hostage to make her uncle, who they were smuggling into the country, cooperate.

It only gets better from there as Shane decides he is going to help with the aid of the Mafia father who now considers him a brother for saving his son.

Alice in Wonderland - March 2010

This is a pretty good version of alice in wonderland that actually takes place when alice is a teenager being proposed marriage two by a man she doesn't love. She returns to wonderland that she had visited when she was a child to save them from the red queen.

Alice is played by Mia Wasikowska. Johnny Depp is the Mad Hatter. Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway makes a very beautiful white queen. It is gothic in design - true to Tim Burton form - and much more adult oriented but yet moderate enough for children as well.

Marmaduke is a great dane dog who plays himself with a voice over done by Owen Wilson. Its based on the comic strip that frequents the sunday papers. Dad works for a dog food company who meets his higher upper in the dog park where Maramaduke meets other dogs (with their own voice over people no less) and learns the lessons in love, loyalty, and friendship as well as sticking up for yourself and refusing to be bullied. Good movie with many lessons kids need to hear in it.

The Bounty Hunter - March 2010

Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler play Nicole Hurly and Milo Boyd. He is a bounty hunter and she is a reporter. They used to be married but had a pretty bitter divorce. She hits a a lead on a big story she is working on while enroute to answer court charges. She takes off to follow the lead leaving her poor lawyer in the judges wake to try to explain why she's not in court. Of course the bail is revoked and Milo gets the sheer joy of trying to find her and haul her butt to jail. She does everything in her power to make it not so easy on him and the movie is a delightful banter and funny punts as they keep one uping each other while staying a step a head of the bad guys who find out Hurly is on to them and are trying to shut her up.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - May 2010

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Dastan, a street rat who was picked up by the king after a show of unusual bravery and adopted as his son, thus becoming Prince Dastan, younger brother to the king's two natural sons.

After they are grown they get word that a city they have been allied with has been hiding weapons and plan an attack. The persians attack first with Dastan kicking butt in a wonderful series of movies that would make Lee or Norris proud! The Princess Tamina (played by Gemma Arterton) is captured and will become the wife of one of the princes' to insure an alliance. She is a wild one who will not be tamed.

During the declaration Dastan presents a cloak to his father (given to him by his brother, the next in line to present) as a gift. After the king dons the cloak he dies from burning poison. Dastan of course is accused and is on the run for his life, taking the princess with him. While on their journey to prove his innocence he learns the knife he took from her is powerful..it has the ability to turn back time..but only for one minute at a time.

VERY good movie I loved it and plan on buying it.

He must evade people who may not be evil per say but are desparate as resources are scarce and violence to take what is needed is rising, while trying to run out west to get the Bible reprinted.

Wolfman - Febuary 2010

This exciting movie stars Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot. He is an actor whose brother has gone missing. His brother's fiance seeks him out and talks him into coming home to his estranged family to try to help find his missing brother. Balking at first he relents and shows up at the family home to learn from his father, played by Anthony Hopkins that his brothers body has been found mutilated from a werewolf attack.

While visiting gypsy caravan for information the beast attacks again and Lawrence is bitten but survives, being nursed back to help by one of the gypsy women and then by his brother's fiance, Gwen, played by Emily Blunt. of course when one is bitten by a wolf one becomes a wolf and so the story goes on with the country folk on the hunt. It had a surprise ending, one I didnt see coming. It turns out Hopskin's charactor is not the lonely old goat of a father as the movie first appears. A very good watch.

Jack Black and Kyle Gas play themselves in this funny raunchy comedy. Its a funny take on their own actual band, how they met, how they got started with their music. They each decide that they suck when they learn of how the devil's tooth got knocked out of his mouth when he got his ass kicked ages ago and those who use it as a pick can play like rock gods. The Princess and the Frog - November 2009

This is only vaguely following the line of the original classic tale The Frog Prince about a black girl in New Orleans named Tiana ( voice by Anika Noni Rose) who is following her father's dream to own their own restaurant. He has passed away but she serves as a waitress struggling to save enough money to buy her building.

A prince Naveen (voice by Bruno Campos) comes to town and is turned into a frog by a evil voodoo priest. He wants to be human again of course and in exchange for him buying Tiana her restaurant she agrees to kiss him. It fails. She is turned into a frog too and they go hopping through the bayou to see the good voodoo priestess about turning them back into humans, and meeting friends along the way with both tears and laughs. Wonderful work, Walt Disney you did it again.

The Lovely Bones - December 2009

I didn't like this movie too much, the previews interested me but the special effects and the actual movie could have been alot better. Its one of those movies that if you do a dose of acid and sit back and veg out it would be a great movie lol i swear with all the swirling colors I think that's what they were on when they made the movie! It made it very difficult to follow and its a shame because I liked the plot line and it had so much potential.

Suzy Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is a little girl about 14 or 15 who is molested and murdered by her neighbor who built an underground club house and lured her into it. She goes to heaven or actually a between place not quite heaven from where she can see her family and watch whats going on. Years pass and the killer is dormant. Then the urge gets on him again and he needs to do it again. Suzy's sister, Lindsey, who was a young'un when Suzy was murdered, has grown up to a beautiful young teenager. The killer begins to plot to her next but she suspects and does some sleuth work finding out who it is. Can she expose him before he kills her too? Mark Walberg from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch plays her father Jack and Rachel Weisz plays her mother Abigail who was completely emotionally destroyed by the loss of her daughter and never fully recovered.

The end was disappointing and had me actually shaking my husband and yelling "thats not the way a movie is supposed to end?!" lol

The Blind Side - November 2009

I didn't know this was based on a true story until they started showing real pictures at the end. lol I thought to myself, well how about that!

The movie stars Sandra Bullock who plays Leigh Anne Tuohy. She is happily married with two kids, a son and a daughter. They are pretty rich! They take in a homeless black boy whose had been staying whereever he can to stay warm, including the school gyn and laundry mats.

Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron) shows potential in sports but his education has suffered. Before he can legally play anything he has to bring grades up. The Tuohys hire him a private tutor (played by Kathy Bates) and they work and study.

Meanwhile the emotional drama continues as Michael is torn between the white woman raising him as one of her own and his real momma who is shown to be a crack whore with so many kids she doesn't even know them all let alone keep track of them. Most are being raised by the state. LeighAnne and her husband file to legal adopt Micheal who, if anyone knows the real Michael Oher, graduates highschool, goes on to play college ball and ends up as the star left tackle for the Baltimore Ravens.

Legion - January 2010

I wasn't going to watch this movie right away at first. I saw the previews on tv and the ads on facebook and it looked good but there were just so many other movies I wanted to watch first. Then came the email in my account. The protestants took up arms against it saying it was religious blasphemous. In the past when they get their panties in a knot about a movie Ive ended up loving it so it caught my attention even more and I downloaded it. lol

I was not disappointed. In the story, God is pissed. He has had enough of sin and sinners and lets lose a band of demons to bring on the apocalypse. St. Michael (Paul Bettany) the Archangel rebels and comes down to our aid to save us from the evil crawling around the earth possessing people and causing mayhem and death. He protects a special children that is to be born on our behalf. Yes eventually God's mercifulness calms down and he forgives us, his children. The special effects kicked butt.

Avatar - December 2009

Wow. This movie rocked my socks off with the skill and imagination that went into making this movie. Which doesn't surprise me since production took *4 years* so I was expecting something of this magnitude.

Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is a Marine who is confined to a wheel chair. He has been given a post on another planet called Pandora. It's occupied by an alien race (blue people) who is tired of being bullied by the Earthlings who want the property they are living on (sound familiar? mmm) the air on this world is not compatible with human needs so they have created "avatars" which are bodies controlled by the consciences they are made for. Jake discovers when he enters this body can jump around, run and play just like he used to and he loves it.

While he is out on a mission he gets in a tuft with one of the native animals, gets chased through the woods and gets lost and separated from his people. He meets a native woman named Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana) She teaches him the way of her people and gets accepted as a member of the Navi tribe. During which there is love, betrayal, emotions, and of course manly chest beating by the military who think they are supremely more important and more powerful then the tribe. They have a big nother think coming.

The Tooth Fairy - January 2010

The tooth fairy is Derek Thompson (The Rock). He is a pretty rude hockey star that plays dirty, knocks people's teeth out on the ice and crushes kid's dreams off of it. When he goes too far he receives a summons to fairy court where he is sentenced to serve as a tooth fairy for one week (with more time added for infractions) by Lily (played by Julie Andrews)

At first he hates the job, it gets in the way of his personal life and his non fairy duties and he finds himself having to make choices relating to his girlfriend and her two children. Of course telling the truth is forbidden and who would believe him anyways! Its pretty funny, without giving away what happens my favorite scene includes him being shrunk down to a peewee size and being discovered by the family cat, who of course goes after anything smaller then it. Its a riot, geared for kids but a side splitter for adults as well with mature innuendos which only adults would understand.

Wrong Turn 2003

Wrong turn

This was a pretty good, kept at the edge of your seat horror movie. The typical slasher movie of the 80s.

Chris is on his way to a job interview, finds himself low on gas and takes a shortcut to afford traffic. A van full of kids also travel down the same road and get their tires flattened by barbed wire stretched across the road. Chris, not expecting anyone on the lonely stretch, plows right into the van. After some words are exchanged they all decide to walk back to find a phone with two staying behind to watch the vehicles.
Well it seems the wire across the road wasn't a pranklike they first thought but a group of birth defected cannibals who knock off the two staying behind and bring them home to cook them up then go in hunt of the rest of the group who run through the woods trying to stay alive and get out. Desmond Harrington stars Chris, Eliza Dushku as Jessie, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Carly, Jeremy Sisto as Scott, Kevin Zegers as Evan and Lindy Booth as Francine.
