Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny November 2006

Jack Black and Kyle Gas play themselves in this funny raunchy comedy. Its a funny take on their own actual band, how they met, how they got started with their music. They each decide that they suck when they learn of how the devil's tooth got knocked out of his mouth when he got his ass kicked ages ago and those who use it as a pick can play like rock gods. They go in search of the infamous pick.

The Stepfather - October 2009

This is a remake of a movie originally done in 1987. David (Dylan Walsh) is on the hunt for the perfect family of which he can become a part of. However every family is imperfect somehow or another and when he becomes dissatisfied after his happy ever after delusional bubble breaks he slaughters them all and begins the hunt for a new family to join.

He comes home after being away at military school to find his mother (Sela Ward) shacked up with David. Everybody loves him...his sister (Sherry Stringfield) and younger brother (Jon Tenney) but Michael senses something isn't right. As other people who suspect David isn't all he pretends to be start dying off Michael begins looking into his past.

Seeking another route to Dublin she meets Declan (played by Matthew Goode) who is in danger of losing his pub. In exchange for a price he agrees to escort her to Dublin to meet her boyfriend. The Princess and the Frog - November 2009

This is only vaguely following the line of the original classic tale The Frog Prince about a black girl in New Orleans named Tiana ( voice by Anika Noni Rose) who is following her father's dream to own their own restaurant. He has passed away but she serves as a waitress struggling to save enough money to buy her building.

A prince Naveen (voice by Bruno Campos) comes to town and is turned into a frog by a evil voodoo priest. He wants to be human again of course and in exchange for him buying Tiana her restaurant she agrees to kiss him. It fails. She is turned into a frog too and they go hopping through the bayou to see the good voodoo priestess about turning them back into humans, and meeting friends along the way with both tears and laughs. Wonderful work, Walt Disney you did it again.

The Lovely Bones - December 2009

I didn't like this movie too much, the previews interested me but the special effects and the actual movie could have been alot better. Its one of those movies that if you do a dose of acid and sit back and veg out it would be a great movie lol i swear with all the swirling colors I think that's what they were on when they made the movie! It made it very difficult to follow and its a shame because I liked the plot line and it had so much potential.

Suzy Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) is a little girl about 14 or 15 who is molested and murdered by her neighbor who built an underground club house and lured her into it. She goes to heaven or actually a between place not quite heaven from where she can see her family and watch whats going on. Years pass and the killer is dormant. Then the urge gets on him again and he needs to do it again. Suzy's sister, Lindsey, who was a young'un when Suzy was murdered, has grown up to a beautiful young teenager. The killer begins to plot to her next but she suspects and does some sleuth work finding out who it is. Can she expose him before he kills her too? Mark Walberg from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch plays her father Jack and Rachel Weisz plays her mother Abigail who was completely emotionally destroyed by the loss of her daughter and never fully recovered.

The end was disappointing and had me actually shaking my husband and yelling "thats not the way a movie is supposed to end?!" lol

The Blind Side - November 2009

I didn't know this was based on a true story until they started showing real pictures at the end. lol I thought to myself, well how about that!

The movie stars Sandra Bullock who plays Leigh Anne Tuohy. She is happily married with two kids, a son and a daughter. They are pretty rich! They take in a homeless black boy whose had been staying whereever he can to stay warm, including the school gyn and laundry mats.

Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron) shows potential in sports but his education has suffered. Before he can legally play anything he has to bring grades up. The Tuohys hire him a private tutor (played by Kathy Bates) and they work and study.

Meanwhile the emotional drama continues as Michael is torn between the white woman raising him as one of her own and his real momma who is shown to be a crack whore with so many kids she doesn't even know them all let alone keep track of them. Most are being raised by the state. LeighAnne and her husband file to legal adopt Micheal who, if anyone knows the real Michael Oher, graduates highschool, goes on to play college ball and ends up as the star left tackle for the Baltimore Ravens.

Legion - January 2010

I wasn't going to watch this movie right away at first. I saw the previews on tv and the ads on facebook and it looked good but there were just so many other movies I wanted to watch first. Then came the email in my account. The protestants took up arms against it saying it was religious blasphemous. In the past when they get their panties in a knot about a movie Ive ended up loving it so it caught my attention even more and I downloaded it. lol

I was not disappointed. In the story, God is pissed. He has had enough of sin and sinners and lets lose a band of demons to bring on the apocalypse. St. Michael (Paul Bettany) the Archangel rebels and comes down to our aid to save us from the evil crawling around the earth possessing people and causing mayhem and death. He protects a special children that is to be born on our behalf. Yes eventually God's mercifulness calms down and he forgives us, his children. The special effects kicked butt.

Avatar - December 2009

Wow. This movie rocked my socks off with the skill and imagination that went into making this movie. Which doesn't surprise me since production took *4 years* so I was expecting something of this magnitude.

Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is a Marine who is confined to a wheel chair. He has been given a post on another planet called Pandora. It's occupied by an alien race (blue people) who is tired of being bullied by the Earthlings who want the property they are living on (sound familiar? mmm) the air on this world is not compatible with human needs so they have created "avatars" which are bodies controlled by the consciences they are made for. Jake discovers when he enters this body can jump around, run and play just like he used to and he loves it.

While he is out on a mission he gets in a tuft with one of the native animals, gets chased through the woods and gets lost and separated from his people. He meets a native woman named Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana) She teaches him the way of her people and gets accepted as a member of the Navi tribe. During which there is love, betrayal, emotions, and of course manly chest beating by the military who think they are supremely more important and more powerful then the tribe. They have a big nother think coming.

The Tooth Fairy - January 2010

The tooth fairy is Derek Thompson (The Rock). He is a pretty rude hockey star that plays dirty, knocks people's teeth out on the ice and crushes kid's dreams off of it. When he goes too far he receives a summons to fairy court where he is sentenced to serve as a tooth fairy for one week (with more time added for infractions) by Lily (played by Julie Andrews)

At first he hates the job, it gets in the way of his personal life and his non fairy duties and he finds himself having to make choices relating to his girlfriend and her two children. Of course telling the truth is forbidden and who would believe him anyways! Its pretty funny, without giving away what happens my favorite scene includes him being shrunk down to a peewee size and being discovered by the family cat, who of course goes after anything smaller then it. Its a riot, geared for kids but a side splitter for adults as well with mature innuendos which only adults would understand.

Wrong Turn 2003

Wrong turn

This was a pretty good, kept at the edge of your seat horror movie. The typical slasher movie of the 80s.

Chris is on his way to a job interview, finds himself low on gas and takes a shortcut to afford traffic. A van full of kids also travel down the same road and get their tires flattened by barbed wire stretched across the road. Chris, not expecting anyone on the lonely stretch, plows right into the van. After some words are exchanged they all decide to walk back to find a phone with two staying behind to watch the vehicles.
Well it seems the wire across the road wasn't a pranklike they first thought but a group of birth defected cannibals who knock off the two staying behind and bring them home to cook them up then go in hunt of the rest of the group who run through the woods trying to stay alive and get out. Desmond Harrington stars Chris, Eliza Dushku as Jessie, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Carly, Jeremy Sisto as Scott, Kevin Zegers as Evan and Lindy Booth as Francine.
